Etsy Profit Calculator 2026

A $25 sale is not $25 of profit. After the listing, transaction, and payment processing fees — plus your materials and shipping — a typical $25 item keeps about $13. Enter your real numbers and see exactly what you keep on every order.

Calculate Your Profit Per Order

Leave at 0 if you offer free shipping. Etsy charges its percentage fees on price plus shipping charged.

What the item itself costs you to make or buy, per unit.

Postage plus packaging — mailers, boxes, labels, and inserts.

Only applies when the buyer clicked an Offsite Ad. The fee is capped at $100 per order.

How Etsy Profit Works

Profit is what remains after Etsy takes its fees and you cover your own costs. Etsy percentage fees are charged on the order total — the item price plus any shipping you charge the buyer — not just the item price.

Net profit = Order total − Total Etsy fees − Product cost − Shipping cost   |   Profit margin = Net profit ÷ Order total × 100

The 2026 Etsy fees in this calculator

Fee 2026 rate (US sellers) Charged on
Listing fee $0.20 flat Per listing, lasts 4 months or until sold
Transaction fee 6.5% Item price + shipping charged
Payment processing fee 3% + $0.25 Item price + shipping charged
Offsite Ads fee 12% or 15%, capped at $100 Item price + shipping charged, only on ad-driven orders
  • Worked example: a $25 item with free shipping, $5 of materials, and $4 of postage and packaging pays $0.20 listing + $1.63 transaction + $1.00 processing = $2.83 in fees. Net profit: $25 − $2.83 − $5 − $4 = $13.17, a 52.7% margin.
  • Free shipping is not free: if you charge $0 shipping but pay $6 to ship, that $6 comes straight out of profit. Either price it in or charge for shipping — and remember Etsy fees apply to shipping charged, too.
  • Offsite Ads change the math fast: a 15% ad fee on that same $25 order adds $3.75 and cuts profit to $9.42. Shops that rely on ad-driven sales need higher list prices to hold the same margin.

Frequently Asked Questions

As general guidance, many healthy shops aim for a net margin of roughly 20–40% after fees, materials, and shipping. Handmade and digital products often run higher because materials are cheap; resold and low-priced physical goods often run lower. The right target depends on your costs and volume — what matters is that the margin is positive after every fee, not just the sticker price.

On a $25 order with free shipping and no Offsite Ad: $0.20 listing + $1.63 transaction (6.5%) + $1.00 processing (3% + $0.25) = $2.83, about 11.3% of the order. If the sale came through an Offsite Ad, add 12% or 15% ($3.00 or $3.75), bringing the total take to $5.83 or $6.58.

Yes. The 6.5% transaction fee, the 3% processing fee, and any Offsite Ads fee are all calculated on the item price plus the shipping amount you charge the buyer. That is why this calculator adds your shipping charge to the item price before applying the percentages.

The Offsite Ads fee is 15% for shops that made under $10,000 in the past 12 months and 12% for shops at $10,000 or more, and it is capped at $100 per order. The cap only matters on expensive items: at 15% it kicks in once an order passes about $667. Participation is mandatory for shops at $10,000 or more in annual revenue; smaller shops can opt out.

Usually one of three things: low-priced items, where the flat $0.20 listing fee and $0.25 processing piece take a big percentage bite; free shipping where your postage cost was never priced in; or ad-driven orders quietly adding 12–15%. Try raising the price, charging separately for shipping, or bundling items to lift the order total above the flat fees.
