The Moon races through the zodiac far faster than the Sun. It completes the full circle in about 27.3 days, spending roughly two and a half days in each sign. That is why two people born in the same week can have completely different moon signs — and why your birth time can change the answer.

This calculator works out the Moon’s position on the ecliptic (its ecliptic longitude) for the moment you were born, using a standard astronomical approximation, then converts that position into a zodiac sign:

Moon sign = the 30-degree slice of the zodiac the Moon occupied at your birth. 0-30 degrees = Aries, 30-60 = Taurus, and so on through Pisces at 330-360 degrees.
