Etsy Pricing Calculator 2026

Most sellers pick a price and hope the margin survives Etsy’s fees. This calculator works backwards: enter your costs and the profit margin you want, and it solves for the exact listing price that delivers it.

Find Your Etsy Price

Everything it costs to make or source one item: materials, packaging, and your wholesale cost.

What postage and labels actually cost you per order, even if the buyer pays some of it.

Use 0 for free shipping. Etsy charges its percentage fees on the shipping you charge too, and this calculator accounts for that.

Profit as a share of the full order total (item price plus shipping charged), after all Etsy fees and your costs.

If a sale can come through an Offsite Ad, price for the worst case so the margin holds either way.

That margin is not reachable at those settings. Etsy fees plus your target margin add up to the whole order total (or more), so no price can deliver it. Lower the target margin, reduce your costs, or drop the Offsite Ads assumption and try again.

The Etsy Pricing Formula

Etsy takes its percentage fees from the order total — the item price plus any shipping you charge the buyer — not from the item price alone. In 2026 the percentage fees are 6.5% for the transaction fee and 3% for payment processing, which add up to 9.5% of the order total. On top of that sit two fixed fees per order: $0.25 for processing and $0.20 for the listing, or $0.45 combined. If an Offsite Ad made the sale, Etsy takes another 12% or 15% of the order total.

Working backwards from a target margin gives one equation. Your profit has to equal the margin times the order total, and the order total has to cover your costs, the fixed fees, and every percentage fee first:

Order total = (Your costs + $0.45) ÷ (0.905 − Offsite Ads rate − Target margin)
Item price = Order total − Shipping charged to buyer
  • 0.905 is what survives the standard fees: 1 minus the 9.5% combined transaction and processing rate. Every point of Offsite Ads and every point of target margin comes out of that same 90.5 cents on the dollar.
  • Costs go in whole: materials, packaging, and the shipping you pay are added before dividing, because the price has to recover them after fees shrink the order total.
  • The denominator is the danger zone: if the Offsite Ads rate plus your target margin reaches 90.5% or more, the math has no solution — Etsy fees and your margin alone would consume the entire order total before a single cost is covered.
  • The Offsite Ads cap: Etsy caps the Offsite Ads fee at $100 per order, no matter how large the order is. This calculator ignores the cap and prices the full percentage, which slightly over-prices very expensive items — a safe direction to err.

Worked Examples (Costs of $10, 30% Target Margin)

Scenario Order total Item price Etsy fees Profit
Free shipping, no Offsite Ads $17.27 $17.27 $2.09 $5.18 (30.0%)
Free shipping, Offsite Ads at 15% $22.97 $22.97 $6.08 $6.89 (30.0%)
$5.00 shipping charged, no Offsite Ads $17.27 $12.27 $2.09 $5.18 (30.0%)

Notice the third row: charging the buyer $5.00 for shipping does not change the order total you need, because Etsy fees apply to the shipping charge too. It only shifts how the total is split between item price and shipping. Already know your price and want to see what is left after fees? Run it through our Etsy fee calculator instead.

Frequently Asked Questions

Four main fees: a $0.20 listing fee per item (charged again each time a listing sells or renews after four months), a 6.5% transaction fee on the order total including shipping charged, payment processing at 3% plus $0.25 per order in the US, and Offsite Ads at 12% or 15% when an ad brings the sale. This calculator builds all four into the price.

Most sustainable shops target 25% to 40% after fees and costs. Below 20% leaves little room for refunds, damaged shipments, and price promotions. Above 50% is achievable for digital products and low-cost handmade goods, but check that the resulting price still looks reasonable next to competing listings.

Only if your shop earned less than $10,000 in the previous 365 days — those shops are charged 15% per attributed sale and can opt out in settings. Shops at $10,000 or more are enrolled permanently at the lower 12% rate. Either way, the fee per order is capped at $100. If you cannot opt out, pricing with the Offsite Ads rate included protects your margin on ad-driven sales and gives you a bonus margin on organic ones.

Etsy gives search placement benefits to listings with free shipping, and buyers convert better on them — but free shipping is never free for you. Set the shipping charged field to 0 and enter what postage costs you, and this calculator folds that cost into the item price so the margin survives. If you charge for shipping instead, remember Etsy takes its percentage fees out of the shipping charge as well.

No. Etsy collects and remits sales tax on your behalf in most US states, so it never touches your payout or your price math. Income tax and self-employment tax on your profit are your responsibility at tax time, and they vary too much by situation to bake into a listing price. If you want a margin that survives taxes too, raise the target margin to leave room.
Disclaimer: Estimates use Etsy’s published US fee rates for 2026 (6.5% transaction, 3% plus $0.25 processing, $0.20 listing, Offsite Ads at 12% or 15% with a $100 per-order cap that this calculator does not apply). Regulatory fees, currency conversion, and promoted listing costs are not included. Verify current rates in your Etsy shop manager before repricing your whole catalog.
